Achilles Tendinitis
Known for being the strongest and thickest tendon in the human body, the Achilles connects the calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to the heel bone. The Achilles is used during walking, running, or jumping and can become weak from overuse. It is the most commonly torn tendon due to athletic injuries. Achilles Tendinitis can strike anyone, from runners who have increased the intensity or duration of their runs to weekend exercisers and athletes.
Pedorthic applications include:
- A shoe with a higher heel to lift the heel and reduce stress on the Achilles tendon.
- Internal or external heel lifts
- Functional orthotics
- Rocker soles
